About cerrado mineiro region
Pioneers Of Brazilian Coffee Excellence
As Brazil’s first Designation of Origin for coffee, the Cerrado Mineiro Region in Minas Gerais is renowned for its unique terroir, defined by distinct seasons that elevate coffee quality year after year. A hot, humid summer fosters plant and fruit growth, while a cold, dry winter provides ideal conditions for harvest, with sunny days and cool nights that naturally dry the beans for consistent quality. Organized with strong governance, our cooperatives, associations, and exporters work together to support producers across all stages—from production to sustainability and export. Cerrado Mineiro coffee growers lead with ESG principles, promoting regenerative practices, carbon neutrality, soil coverage, and innovative biological inputs.
Designation Of Origin And Traceability
The Cerrado Mineiro Region proudly holds Brazil’s first Designation of Origin for coffee, a certification granted by the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). Similar to renowned wine regions like Champagne and Brunello di Montalcino, this status guarantees quality, origin, and full traceability. Each coffee carrying this Designation of Origin seal is packaged in official bags and equipped with a QR code, providing detailed traceability that includes the farm’s information, producer details, a quality report, and a certificate of origin.
